Neil Gaiman

His commencement speech at University of the Arts is pretty great:

The moment that you feel that, just possibly, you're walking down the street naked, exposing too much of your heart and your mind and what exists on the inside, showing too much of yourself. That's the moment you may be starting to get it right.

The things I've done that worked the best were the things I was the least certain about, the stories where I was sure they would either work, or more likely be the kinds of embarrassing failures people would gather together and talk about  until the end of time. They always had that in common: looking back at them, people explain why they were inevitable successes. While I was doing them, I had no idea.

OK, I know this kind of comment is probably annoying, but isn't it "Gaiman"? I'm not normally that guy, but I think people's names are worth getting right. So interested folks can Google it correctly, for example.

Love the blog and the book, btw. Just so you know I'm really not (I swear) just that guy.

Just saw the update. Nice.

My girlfriend loves your videos and has purchased your book straight away. It doesn't hurt that she also smokes AND has had a yoga practice. But it's more than that of course. It's the deeper truths - exposing our self-doubts and insecurities while we still yearn to be better. The best satire blends mockery and affection and you've nailed it.
